****** VUSC Installation Version
6.50 ******
Installation prerequisites:
- Direct X version >= 9.0c
If you install on Windows XP check the DirectX version in your system. It’s very
likely, that DirectX is already installed in your system. Check its version by
running the program dxdiag.exe, usually located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 or
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32. If there’s no DirectX or a version older then 9.0c download
it from http://www.soft32.com/ (search for
“DirectX 9 Redistributable”) and follow the instruction for the installation.
- The INSTALLATION DIRECTORY PATH must NOT contain any SPACES, DOTS or HYPHENS.
- If you want to use parallel LPT port for CW, rotator or bandswitch control you
can optionally install DLportIO driver by running Install.exe from the
subdirectory DriverLINX\install after the VUSC installation. Otherwise the
driver installation IS NOT NECESSARY. This option works ONLY FOR 32-bit Windows
systems.
- For the rotor control over USB install the MBUSBprt driver as described in the
manual. This option works ONLY FOR 32-bit Windows systems.
Remarks:
The old *.DIX files from the DOS VUSC version can be read, but they are
automatically converted to the new Windows format when saved and can not be used
by the DOS version any more.
For the upgrade to a higher version you can download the archive
VUSC_setup_<version number>_en.exe containing just the changed files. If you
experience problems with the start after the upgrade replace the file
vuscwin.cfg with the one from the subdirectory data or use some of the
configuration templates vuscwin*.cfg as described in the manual. In this case
you have to renew your private setting, though.
On Windows Vista/7/8/10 run the program as Administrator by right clicking on
VUSC.EXE.
In rare cases the program may crash after the start. A bug in the sound card
driver was indentified as a most common reason. The driver crashes when a
certain DirectX function is called. In such a case start the program from a
command line "Start->Run" with the argument nosnd and/or change the shortcut
properties:
vusc.exe nosnd
It switches off the sound card entirely. The funtions depending on the sound
card can't be used (SSB CQ call, CW monitor and audio recording), but the CW
keying works OK.
If you have installed the DLPortIP driver for another application in your 64-bit
Windows or there's an old version after the Windows upgrade it may cause
problems with the start. Use the parameter nodlp in that case:
vusc.exe nodlp
If you want to use Microham the USB-driver (delivered with the Microham) must be
running and the appropriate
virtual COM ports must be created before the start of VUSC.
