TINY TROPO FROM PRAGUE TO UK & ESTONIA

OK1TEH JO70FD 320m asl

After few month tropo come to Prague again, as almost each Autumn. This opening wasn't superb, but I was very glad to work from my home QTH in JO70FD (320m asl) few old friends from UK and later even some Estonian stations. Also well known Peter G3LFT was for me nice surprise on 70cm, particularly he became my jubilee100th square on 70cm :-) However, Prague was not the best place for tropo DX, because duct was much higher. So, on 12th September late afternoon, we start up crazy short DX expedition into JN79QJ, only 120km away hill - just during 70cm NAC.. In JN79QJ is contest QTH of OK2KGB contest club. Their's QTH is on the hill some 740m asl plus some 60m high GSM operator tower, where are placed antennas and supported by QRO GS35 PA's for 2m/70cm. We arrived at abt 20utc, then we had to climb up that 60m tower to install antennas. We caught last 30min of contest, however band was quiet. Some 20min later suddenly on 70cm after contest ES5PC appeared with fb signal on SSB and after him ES2RJ from1282km distance. It's shame that we didn't arrive 1h earlier because of OH0A on 70cm would be new DXCC for me (he was made by OK7RA ex OK1UVY). During QSO with ES2RJ I had big QRM from IC706 on 2m, which was used by my neighbour Peter, OK2CRT. In my FT-847 the QRM was over S9+. Peter, OK2CRT made few good 2m qso's with ES, YL, LY too. After this nice DX hour Peter climbed again on tower and at 00UTC we returned back to Prague. Next day I made from home Ants, ES6RQ with his big EME antenna on 2m. And last note, Kjell SM7GVF from JO77 was vy good tropo indicator in Prague because of his 4x10el Y + 1kW station. Last day of this tropo opening, when I hrd his signals, was 13.th September. After this date, the condx are gone.
